I bought this beautiful Vernazza centerpiece as a gift for a friend. She makes a lovely dish from her native country with Alphonso olives and red onion rings sprinkled atop a golden cheese sauce, surrounded by red lettuce leaves and boiled egg halves. Of course, you cannot use this centerpiece for food, so I bought a clear pyrex bowl that fits perfectly inside. The food is safe and the presentation is stunning with the olive branches around the centerpiece. When my friend is not using the centerpiece for this favorite national dish, it sits atop a gorgeous 7-foot long olive wood buffet. I was fortunate enough to live in Tunisia as a child and my mother purchased this buffet made from 1000-year-old olive trees. I gave it to my friend since it fits perfectly in her large home and I no longer had sufficient space. This Vernazza centerpiece sitting atop the olive wood buffet is truly majestic.
