When I purchased this it was for a Christmas decoration, but I opened the box and looked at it with such surprise that it can be used year around. It's on my living room cocktail table as a candy dish.

This covered jar is really pretty, however, I was not completely satisfied with it. The model on the website shows the covered jar in an ivory color and a very shiny red cardinal bird. The Jar I received was darker ivory accent, almost in a brown accent and the bird in a dull red color, not shiny at all. I ordered two of them, one for my brother that lives in another state and I haven't heard any comment from his wife. Overall, it still looks okay on my kitchen counter.
