I bought this for two reasons: one for safety and the other to add life to the carpet runner. My only disappointment is it is way to thin. I suggest that you a person upgrade to a thicker pad. I have this in the entrance way on tile floor, between the carpet and the pad, I can still feel the grout lines when I walk barefoot on the carptet.
