More pretty than functional

These are gorgeous and looks great on any shelf. However, they are best suited for lightweight books or books seldom used. I've had the bookends for years but have only recently started really using the books they are to hold up. The bookends slide off the shelf under the weight of a series of paperback books, which is very frustrating. Especially since there's an industrial library bookend across from it that may be less attractive, but stays in place and isn't banging up my beautiful book case as it tumbles to the floor!
