We love the bench, but the directions on how to put all the pieces together were terrible. My husband has had experience with these things and it was still confusing. I would hate to think what a novice would do.

Well packaged with easy instructions; assembly approx 2.5 hrs. Glue received in kit was a bit dry and difficult to put into the dowel pin holes so I used a regular wood glue. Top (or back) section a tad short to put 4 pairs of shoes side by side and close the door so I would call this a 10 pair chest. Staining of pieces matched each other very well. I use a cordless mini-driver in assembly - be certain to set torque low enough not to strip out threads of smaller screws in the the wood composite. Predrilled holes alligned well. The final step for the hinge pin cover inside was a bit tricky for my bulky hands, but was able to finally get the little screws into place. I'm certain even without these screws the door would function well. The pad cover is not removable from the bench seat pad itself for laundering and is a light ivory color which may at some time need recovered. This pad could easily be replaced, recovered or left off the chest if desired.

instructions could have been better. they should have told you to do some steps ahead of some of the teps that were ahead ot it-increased to time to assemble. looks nice it was a little high price for the unit. . sticky woodgrain cocers for screws would have been a good touch.

I love the workmanship and the piece is very pretty. The directions are good for putting it all together, but it is too hard to get the drawer in place!! My husband and I were very disappointed in this last step. If someone purchased this piece and was not good at putting things together, I feel sure they would return it. I would rather pay more and get it already assembled than have to go through that again! I wanted to purchase at least one more when it arrived, but after fighting to get the drawer in place - I am going to look for something else.
